Mold Test Costs

What is the cost of a Mold Inspection, Indoor Air Quality Test or Mold Sampling?

Once mold grows, it releases mycotoxins into the environment. These mycotoxins can cause an allergic reaction in some people.  For a minority of people exposure to mold can suppress their immune system.

What causes mold to grow?

  • The humidity within the building exceeds 50%
  • Water or moisture enters or develops within the building
  • The temperature is 20-80 degrees Fahrenheit
  • There are organic porous materials which provides a perfect environment for mold to grow

Mold, and their mycotoxins, are just some factors within the environment that can make people ill.  The presence of these illnesses warrants at least a mold test, but an indoor air quality survey and inspection may also be warranted.

Mold Test Cost Variables

Several factors affect how much mold testing will cost.

  • Home Size – The larger the home, the more samples will need to be taken. Often the customer would like a whole house inspection and survey. Pricing for the survey is in addition to the mold sampling and testing.
  • Ease of Access – Can the technician easily get to all parts of the home to inspect and/or test?
  • Geographic Location – How far the technician will need to travel to get to the property

According to Angi (formerly Angie’s List), the low end for mold testing is $125.00, the high end is $2,550 and the median is $572.
